PostSubject: Articles in "11 Freunde"   Articles to translate EmptyMon Sep 27, 2010 5:17 am

There are two interesting articles in the October issue of "11 Freunde" (German Soccer Magazine). One is an interview with Dirk Brüllau and the other is a short portrait of Tanja Walter-Ahrens' club "SV Seitenwechsel". A short version of the interview can be found here: http://www.11freunde.de/bundesligen/132549/wir_sind_unsichtbar but I couldn't find an online version of the club portrait.
I can try and translate both articles from German to English (if this has already been done somewhere, please tell me!), but I won't be able to do it before the weekend.

I'd love to get some encouragement before I start working, so someone please answer me ;-) Also, if anyone else owns a copy of "11 Freunde" and can start translating NOW, go ahead, I won't be mad.

ETA: And I was wondering, can we get in trouble for scanning and uploading original print media articles? (Can't do that right now, but maybe for next time, sorry if this has been asked before)

So here is the encouragement you asked for Smile I haven't read the article in 11 Freunde, just the link you've posted, but there are good points in what Brüllau says. Perhaps it is enough to translate the general parts about homophobia in football and the problems. Might help you to spare a bit of time.

PS: About scanning the article... I guess, it istn't allowed without permission of the magazine. Perhaps you might like to write a request to 11 Freunde so they also get to know us and our cause. It's like killing two birds with one stone Smile

Someone uploaded a scan of the Gay Times (with Matt Smith) to a livejournal community I'm a member of and they got in touch saying we'd hear from their lawyers if it wasn't taken down immediately. So yes you can definitely get in trouble. However in the case of the Gay Times, they said it would be fine to share a scan once that issue was out of print (aka the one was out for sale). So yeah before publishing any of their content as scans online, I'd recommend asking them for permission! In case of a daily newspaper I don't think it would be as much of an issue since it's already old and not available for purchase the next day. But with more expensive and only monthly issues I wouldn't advise sharing anything on the net (especially publically) without their consent.

I could ask in the German thread, although in the interview just the last two questions are a hint made by Nadine Angerer being bisexuell.

***

ZEITmagazin: There are always rumours that in football there are more lesbian women than anywhere else. What do you say about that?

Angerer : As far as I'm concerned I'm open to anything, because I believe there are nice men and nice women, and because determination in general is daft.

ZEITmagazin: And you can live with both sides?

Angerer: Definitely.

***

The rest is about her career and football.
